Muslims usually have two big days in a year. The first is Eid Al Fitr which is done after a month fasting during Ramadhan, and the second is Eid Al Adha which is done in 10th of Dzulhijjah. It is common to see some countries have a different decision in determining the day of Eid because of the difference in moon sighting. One country may have a different day from other countries.
The only same thing found in Eid Al Adha is the Sunnah or suggested deed before and during the Eid. All of Muslims who don’t do Hajj should do fasting in a day before the Eid or 9th of Dzulhijjah. It is the primary sunnah that Muslims should do as it could erase last year Sin and a year later Sin. In Dzulhijjah month is also called as Hajj month. There, many Muslims will gather in Makkah doing Hajj and those who don’t do it celebrate Eid Al Adha at home and do the suggested Deed or Sunnah Deed.
It’s been common to see Eid Al Adha, but why should be Eid Al Adha? Why is there Eid Al Adha? This Eid is strongly related to the history of Abraham when he was asked by Allah to sacrifice his son, Ishmael through a dream, but the reality, Allah gave ease by allowing him to sacrifice animals instead of killing his own son. Muslims all over the world should remember this story and make it as a valuable lesson which every Muslim should be in good faith no matter what they have.
Look at how Abraham showed his Taqwa and Faith. Even it is asked to sacrifice Son; it will be done although it is so hard. If Abraham could execute that order, why other Muslims can’t? Although Allah just tested Abraham, if it’s real, Abraham would have sacrificed his son. That’s the lesson we should take in Eid Al Adha, that everything will come back to Allah, thus sacrificing and surrender ourselves to Him is a must. Do everything for Allah.
