After spending big time in Eid Fitr, Muslims usually will prepare for Eid Al Adha that will come in Dzulhijah two months later and 10 days. Eid Al Adha is as holy as Eid Al Fitr. It is to respect the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham who would sacrifice Ishmael, his son to Allah, but then Allah gave ease as He only tested Abraham’s faith. Instead of sacrificing his son, Lamb could be sacrificed.
Then, the day is chosen to remember Abraham’s sacrifice. In that day, Muslims all over the world will celebrate with some Ibadah. It should be like Prophet Muhammad in how celebrated the Eid. The first prayer is Arafah fasting where Muslims are suggested to fast a day before the day of Eid al Adha. The month of Dzulhijah is also known as Hajj month. So, Muslims who have been capable to go to do Hajj will do Wuquf in the day before the Eid. The Wuquf time is also used by other Muslims outside Arab to decide the day for Arafah Fasting.
It would be something common when people who are non-Muslims or new Muslims ask how celebrated Eid Al Adha. There is no such celebration like fireworks or others. Actually, it is easy to answer, the way Muslims celebrate should be like Muhammad in Eid Al Adha back then. As we have mentioned before, it is celebrated by doing fasting a day before Eid Al Adha and sacrifice animals on the day of Eid Al Adha. The animals could be cow, camel, lamb, and goats. It is more suggested to give the meat from sacrificed animals to those who deserve more and other Muslims. Muslims are also suggested to do Salah in the day of Eid al Adha like they do salah in Eid Al Fitr. It is done in the morning and then continues to sacrifice the animal.
