Eid al-Adha is a great day that is celebrated in the last month of Islamic lunar calendar. It commemorates the sincerity of Ibrahim to obey God’s order. It signs the end of Hajj. Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It belongs to the 5 pillars of Islam. Muslims, who can afford for Hajj, should perform it at least one time in their life. Each year, there are around three million Muslims who travel to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj.
In countries with Muslim as a majority, it is decided as a public holiday. The celebration involves prayers, family gatherings, and animal sacrifice. The celebration begins with morning prayers.
The prayer that is also called Salah al Eid is quite different with daily Salah that should be performed by Muslims. The Salah al Eid consists of two Rakah. Generally, conducting Salah, al Eid always follow the Imam. You should not make any moves before the imam does. You should follow the imam, and you are not allowed to make a different movement. The main difference of this annual Salah with daily Salah is the number of takbirs in each Rakah.
Takbir is when the words "Allahu Akbar" are said, and both of hands are raised up to the ears. Some people may still be confused on how to pray Eid Al Adha. At the first Rakah, there are seven Takbirs while at the second one there are five takbirs. Like the other 2 Rakah Salah, on each Rakah the Imam will recite Al Fatihah and another surah.
The Salah will be ended by saying "Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullah" while turning to the face to the right first and then doing the same to the left side. You should not get up right away since the Imam will give a Khutbah. That is the brief explanation regarding how to pray Eid Al Adha.
